Available WUs for LINUX Users

Yo,

I've noticed that my LINUX machines only get malariacontrol WUs for a long time now, while my Windomb computers get your CE applications too. Is that working as intended?

Although i'm using proprietary Nvidia drivers, BOINCv7 and not-so-exotic Distros (Ubuntu, Debian and some derivates), i do not get any GPU work too.

That brought me to the idea to look for a list of available applications, like here f.e.

but I can not find such a list. I guess there is no one. I would like to suggest that you implement such a list on the webpage.

Thanks in advance

Yo Dennis,

GPU work is being released slowly, carefully, a few GPU types at a time. First batch is for GT (S) (X) 450, 550 and 650.

Your proprietary drivers (really?) might indeed be an issue, time will tell. As for the CPU app ce5, I'm pretty certain it's Win-only. The tech guys will confirm for us after the weekend.

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks for your answer Mark, it may have explained the GPU thing.

I use only GT 630's actually, with driver version 304.88.

Best,

Dennis

We should have a Linux version of a CPU-based CE app next week or so.  (*Btw, might be useful to opt-in as a CE beta tester if this is of interest: this can be done via the My Account / Settings tab here on the website.)

Prospects for Linux versions of our current GPU apps are TBD.

Is there any sign of a GPU enabled application for Intel integrated GPUs (HD4000) like some other projects?

Hi Roger.  We have work for Nvidia and ATI, but at the moment not Intel sorry to say.

Dennis,

we have released a beta application for Linux today. As you have opted in as a beta tester, you should start receiving work for your Linux machines in a few hours (CPU work only).

Please let us know if you have any comments about how the application runs on your PC.

Hey Rytis,

Although I've opted in as a beta tester, I do not receive work for the Linux machines.

BoincManager says:

Mi 27 Nov 2013 08:36:35 CET | Charity Engine | Sending scheduler request: Requested by project.
Mi 27 Nov 2013 08:36:35 CET | Charity Engine | Requesting new tasks for CPU
Mi 27 Nov 2013 08:36:36 CET | Charity Engine | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
Mi 27 Nov 2013 08:36:36 CET | Charity Engine | No tasks sent
Mi 27 Nov 2013 08:36:36 CET | Charity Engine | No tasks are available for ce-3
Mi 27 Nov 2013 08:36:36 CET | Charity Engine | No tasks are available for ce-2p
Mi 27 Nov 2013 08:36:36 CET | Charity Engine | No tasks are available for ce-5

I've checked some of my 32bit systems and some of my 64bit systems (all using BOINC 7.0.27). It's the same on all of them.

Am I doing something wrong?

(And yes, I reallyreallyreally opted in for beta testing)

Something new:

Mi 27 Nov 2013 10:24:55 CET | Charity Engine | Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
Mi 27 Nov 2013 10:24:55 CET | Charity Engine | Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA
Mi 27 Nov 2013 10:24:57 CET | Charity Engine | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
Mi 27 Nov 2013 10:24:57 CET | Charity Engine | No tasks sent
Mi 27 Nov 2013 10:24:57 CET | Charity Engine | No tasks are available for ce-3
Mi 27 Nov 2013 10:24:57 CET | Charity Engine | No tasks are available for ce-2p
Mi 27 Nov 2013 10:24:57 CET | Charity Engine | No tasks are available for ce-5
Mi 27 Nov 2013 10:24:57 CET | Charity Engine | No tasks are available for ce5 public beta

As you may surely notice, there is a new message "No tasks are available for ce5 public beta". Of course, i don't know if this is in any form related to the Linux Beta WUs.

OK, I think I fixed the problem. Work should start flowing!

It has started indeed!

Well done!

CE 5 public beta 1.00 is running smoothly.

I've noticed that you have set very short deadlines. I hope that it's not a problem that my machines cannot always finish the WU's in time.

Running time seems to be under 40 Minutes on Intel i5, on my Intel i3's a little bit more.

No errors or issues so far.

Hey, do i get credit for those WU's? ;-)

Credit is posted for the beta WUs, and the application itself has been made live for everyone. Thank you for testing!

I tried adding a machine under Boinc Linux on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and when I get to tools--> add project--> next--> project url: http://www.charityengine.com--> communicating with project-->  the email and password--> next> it forms a link "an error has occured" check the event log, click finish to close--> ... Event log ... Thu 30 Jan 2014 03:30:50 PM MST |  | Fetching configuration file from http://www.charityengine.com/get_project_config.php

contents of ... http://www.charityengine.com/get_project_config.php are below.

Charity Engine6

(No other contents) ... http://www.charityengine.com/get_project_config.php.

I would like to do cpu units beta or normal. Maybe GPU later when AMD prices are down.

I get this same response with 3 different variables of username and password
(random keystrokes) for username and (random keystrokes) for password ... true email and true password ... true username and true password

You should use account manager instead of a project in the very first screen of Tools -> Add project or account manager (your client may have slightly different wording, but a very similar option should be there).

I was linked to Boinc project stats and server by my email account to Boinc stats server and password. Putting in the charity web address to connect failed till I disconnected from boinc server which is one of three listed and tried Charity as a server and gained access like in Windows.

2-cents of input.
