I apologise if this has been answered before...I searched for it but did not find an answer, so here goes!

Is there a 64bit Charity Engine ap or would it be called the Desktop account manager?

For example, at BOINC You can choose from a 32bit or 64bit version of the BOINC software...curious if one has the same choice here at Charity Engine.

Thx,

Ed

PS: Congrats to Nia on the jackpot win!!

Hi, Ed -- In an effort to keep things as simple as possible for as many users as possible, we don't ask users for the architecture of their systems (since 32-bit works on 64-bit systems anyway). You are free to install the 64-bit version of BOINC, however, and attach it to your Charity Engine account to get any possible benefits from doing so. (Note that this can lead to a gain in productivity, but it really depends on the task being run.)

Hi Ed -- just a clarification --

There are multiple layers to the system: {1} the "Charity Engine App" to which you refer is primarily a UI and a manager; {2} each science project or CE customer then has a separate application that "lives inside" Charity Engine, and it is these applications which do the processing.

So the "Charity Engine App" is available only in 32bit.  But this has no consequence on computing power.  What matters is whether the separate customer/research apps are 32 or 64bit.  And in this context we often have both 32 and 64 bit versions; and the system automatically sends the optimal version for your device.
